Blackmagic Design took the world by storm when they released the Blackmagic Cinema Camera
in 2012. This was a world first: an affordable cinema camera with RAW or ProRes recording,
up to 2.5K resolution, and bundled with DaVinci Resolve.

Since then Blackmagic have released the Pocket Cinema Camera, Production Camera (4K), the Blackmagic Studio Camera, and Ursa, a full-blown cinema camera, coming later this year!

 

Feature films using Blackmagic Cinema Camera...

To say this has been a rollercoaster ride is an understatement.

Independent filmmakers and professionals have embraced the Blackmagic range of cameras, with feature films now being released shot entirely on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera.

It was recently announced that a feature film in the Cannes film festival was shot with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera.

 

4K Coming Soon... from NAB2014

Most recently, announced at NAB 2014, is URSA - a 4K camera designed for feature film and high-end acquisition. URSA features an upgradable sensor and lens mount, large 10 inch fold out monitor, XLR jacks, and can record Apple’s ProRes or RAW.

This will soon be available in 2014 and shows that Blackmagic now has a complete range of cameras for those who need to be portable, those who are studio based, and those working with large crews. This is an exciting time in the world of camera tecnnology and Blackmagic are reshaping the industry by providing affordable cameras that produce images to the highest levels.
