It was 10 years ago today... UKFCUG turns 10
The UKFCUG was officially launched Friday, 23 May 2003. In the 10 years since the launch the group has had meetings throughout the UK, in London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow.
Happy Birthday UKFCUG

The UKFCUG turns 10 today – the group was officially launched Friday, 23 May 2003.

Back then Final Cut Pro was very different to the latest version, we were all a lot younger, and none of us could have foreseen the future of where the world digital video was going to go. A decade down the road and we live in a world where we can shoot cinema quality at affordable prices, cut content on laptops, upload and distribute movies online. Our world is very different to back in 2003.
Meetings

Meetings have been held in London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester. The group swelled to hundreds of members within the first through months of launching and quickly became the largest of the Final Cut Pro User Groups outside of North America.
The heritage of the UKFCUG continues. We remain true to our original aims
  • To share knowledge concerned with Final Cut Pro and associated technology amongst users of all levels
  • To provide a way for Final Cut Pro editors to meet and communicate
  • To hold regular meetings throughout the UK and to build a community of support for PAL Final Cut users everywhere
  • The Future

The spirit of the UKFCUG remains strong despite the turbulence of recent times in the post production community. Just this week the first UKFCUG newsletter in 5 years or more was sent out – and the response was overwhelming. Perhaps there will be more meetings and communication between us all.

The UKFCUG represents a strong community of post production and production professionals at all levels. It’s been a great 10 years – may the next decade be just as exciting and wildly changeable as the last has been.

    More soon!
